About the Workshop:
Come explore the world of the hand carved and hand printed word/image. In this workshop students will learn the basics of relief printing, starting with transferring images to the block, enhancing the drawings once on the blocks, and then hand printing the blocks with barens and wooden spoons. This process has remained roughly the same since the 15th century and is extremely DIY, no studio is needed and printing from home in this method is incredibly easy. Come learn an analog skill in our digitally dominated world.
About the Instructor:
Raj Bunnag is an artist and printmaker based in Durham, NC. He graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2012 with a BFA in printmaking. Since moving to North Carolina, Raj has worked out of a local print studio, Super G Print Lab, which is a community of artist/printers in the area. His artistic strengths are relief linocut/woodcut prints and multicolored screen prints.
