About the Workshop:
This workshop style Hip/Hop dance class teaches bold and fiery choreography while providing a space to be confident, learn and practice technique/performance skills, get a good workout and have fun! Issa vibe! Open Levels. Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers and bring water.

About the Instructor:

Ife Michelle, MFA Dance, a native of Charlotte, NC, began her dance training through the North Carolina Performing Arts Academy at age 7, continuing through college via the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Fayetteville State University’s dance programs. Ife has danced with multiple companies including KOFFEE Modern Dance Company, DialeKt Pre-Professional Dance Company, SHAE Movement African Arts and 4Thirty-Two Hip-Hop Company, where she also served as a choreographer. Ife currently runs her own dance company Ife Michelle Dance, aimed to increase the representation of body types and identities in the professional dance world.

What is DukeCreate?

DukeCreate is a series of free, hands-on arts workshops designed to help Duke students, staff, and faculty develop a variety of creative skills. Workshops are open to all skill levels and backgrounds. Most take place in the Duke Arts Annex or the Rubenstein Arts Center and are held weeknights 6-8pm. DukeCreate is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts (DukeArts) and University Center Activities and Events (UCAE).

How much does the workshop cost?

Workshops are free to all Duke students and staff, with priority given to students. Class size is limited. Students must sign up in advance at https://training.oit.duke.edu/dukecreate. Walk-ins will only be accommodated on a space-available basis.

Can staff attend DukeCreate workshops?

Duke students can reserve their spot in advance. Online enrollment for Duke staff opens on the day of the workshop. Staff can also show up 10 minutes prior to a workshop in case a slot becomes available.


Where is the Arts Annex?

Our address is 404 Gattis St, Durham, NC 27701.


Can I take a bus there?

Yes! The Arts Annex is located on East Campus, off of bus routes (C1, C2 & CSW) that run along Campus Drive.
