About the workshop:
Water marbling, known as "EBRU" in Turkish, is the art of creating colorful patterns on water by sprinkling and brushing color pigments onto the surface. After creating your design on the water, you transfer the pigment onto paper.
Learn the art of water marbling on paper. Techniques like Battal, come and go, comb, hearts, flowers, and abstract designs will be taught. All supplies are included and you will take two of your masterpieces home.
About the instructor:
Is a water marbling artist. Water marbling, also known as 'Ebru' in Turkish, creates colorful patterns on water by sprinkling and brushing color pigments. After you paint your artwork on a special water surface, you can transfer it onto paper, canvas, card, canvas, sea-shells, or ornaments.
Last year, Zeynep created "Twinsies" with her twin sister Ilknur. Since then they have organized water marbling workshops and classes in various locations including the Cary Arts Center and NCSU Crafts Center. Zeynep and her sister also offer water marbling parties at galleries and art studios. Their artwork has been recently displayed at the Wake County West Regional Library.

What is DukeCreate?
DukeCreate is a series of free, hands-on arts workshops designed to help Duke students, staff, and faculty develop a variety of creative skills. Workshops are open to all skill levels and backgrounds. Most take place in the Duke Arts Annex or the Rubenstein Arts Center and are held weeknights 6-8pm. DukeCreate is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts (DukeArts) and University Center Activities and Events (UCAE).
How much does the workshop cost?
Workshops are free to all Duke students and staff, with priority given to students. Class size is limited. Students must sign up in advance at https://training.oit.duke.edu/dukecreate. Walk-ins will only be accommodated on a space-available basis.
Can staff attend DukeCreate workshops?
Duke students can reserve their spot in advance. Online enrollment for Duke staff opens on the day of the workshop. Staff can also show up 10 minutes prior to a workshop in case a slot becomes available.

Can I take a bus there?
Yes! The Arts Annex is located on East Campus, off of bus routes (C1, C2 & CSW) that run along Campus Drive.
